I FINALLY got to meet Hallie this week, at a fun event hosted by Grace & Jack Rogers. Â We’ve been Twitter/blog buddies for some time now, but had yet to actually hang out after she moved to New York. Â The only way I can describe Hallie is infectious, in the best way. Â Her laugh makes you laugh, you get wrapped up in her stories and anecdotes, and before you know it you’ve promised to try out a NYC torture ritual known as SoulCycle with her and Jessica (pray for me). Â I kind of love that she has a name and hashtag for her travels (#jetsetcorals, y’all). Â And I think we may be long lost sisters. Â That brings me up to two would-be siblings (ahem, Mindy Kaling).

I travel frequently (have you met #jetsetcorals?), so I’d say I’m a packing minimalist with room for improvement, as evidenced here. I avoid checking a bag at all costs, which means I have very heavy carry-on luggage (read: lots of shoes).  I carry-on my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli, which holds everything. In it, I always have too many electronics – my laptop, iPad and portable phone charger – as well as my paper day-planner and an array of must-have travel essentials (shown below).  I will wear whatever jewelry I’ve packed (I keep the accessories to a minimum) to avoid having them break in my suitcase.  To travel, I’m normally wearing Tory Burch riding boots or Nike dunks, and black rag & bone leggings.  (Editor’s note – best pants EVER!)  I’ll usually layer on a lot of what I’m packing for my in-flight ensemble, like with this look:
Though I love to travel and do so frequently, the actual process of getting my ass to the airport is a challenge. I’m hands-down a gate runner. Like, Home Alone style.  (Editor’s note – my mother travels like this as well, which has given both my father and I multiple heart attacks.  I’m surprised we’re still alive).  This will forever drive my loved ones insane, but I like to get to the airport with minimal lingering time. As far as specific places to visit, unfortunately, that’d be the restroom. Gross, I know, but I have a small bladder and can’t say no to a venti Zen (hot) from Starbucks pre-flight.
I am not a pretty public sleeper by any means — mouth open, head bob’age, the works.  (Editor’s note – seriously, Hallie, are we related?  I do the same thing).  Once boarded, I prefer an aisle seat. To occupy my time, I’ll usually work: editing photos, updating Photoshop templates, archiving my Outlook, etc; being at the computer with no Internet can be a blessing. Unless it’s NYC to SF or LA.  Spotify is my savior. I have the premium version and love having a seemingly endless array of music on my phone. Lately, it’s been Imagine Dragons, Tycho (for zoning out), Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Ellie Goulding (for jamming) on repeat. Best $10 that I spend each month – outside of my many magazine subscriptions!  My in-flight essentials are Frends headphones, hand sanitizer, my iPad.
