I think we all need this book right now.
Look beyond the initial description about a princess, magic, re-telling of The Goose Girl. When you do, you will find a beautifully written tale about justice, adventure, and strong women everywhere.
I picked up Thorn when I was feeling particularly helpless. Helpless about the state of the world (Aleppo had just fallen), helpless about the fate of our nation, and helpless at my own home (burst pipe, flooded basement).
December was a rough month.
This book was exactly what I needed to read, in that moment. Alyrra’s strength, grace, and ability to stay silent when needed gave me a swift kick in the butt to stop wallowing and get my head back in the game.
I have a feeling Thorn (and the forthcoming books in the series) are going to be big. Read it now, and revel in the “I read it first” glory later.
What was the last book you read that you couldn’t put down? COMMENT below, and let me know!
P.S. – Carrie Fisher’s brilliant memoir and the other magical series I’m constantly re-reading.
