There have been a few upsides to training for Broad Street.
Hot baths – lots of them. Getting to watch some mindless TV while I stretch every night. Time in my calendar every day that’s just for me.
And the food. There’s so much more food.
By the time I’ve finished my run and stretched (which takes almost as long as some runs), my body’s fully cooled down. A cold smoothie or a bowl of Greek yogurt doesn’t sound appealing.
But this hot milk, fortified with protein and anti-inflammatory goodies, absolutely does.
I pop out one of Daily Harvest’s latte pods from the freezer and let it thaw during my run. In just five minutes, I’m sipping on this elixir and catching up on the news.
It may just be a few minutes. But they’re my few minutes, and I’m fully here for them.
Ingredients
- 1 Daily Harvest turmeric-ginger latte pod
- 3/4 cup of your preferred milk
- 1 scoop of protein powder
Directions
- Thaw the latte pod by running it under hot water for 15-20 seconds
- Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the latte pod, milk, and protein powder.
- Whisk together and heat until it simmers.
- Pour into mug, and enjoy!
I like to enjoy my latte in this oversized teacup with some steamed milk (using this gadget) added on top. If I’m refueling after a long run, I’ll enjoy a muffin or some pancakes along with my golden milk. I publish a new recipe every Monday. You can find them all here.
