I used to love snow days.
A day to curl up at home with hot cocoa and my latest library books. A chance to go play in the snow. Not having to go to school.
Snow days are great when you’re a kid. When you have a kid…well, that’s another story.
Rho destroyed 3 able-bodied adults (me, my father, and Alisha) on Wednesday, and we resorted to keeping the TV on and giving into his demands of cheese, macaroni and cheese, and cheese quesadillas.
Fingers crossed that this is the last snow day of the season. Please, please, please.
Wednesday aside, the week was a great one. I had meetings with Hudson+Bleecker and Rebecca Allen, took a Y7 yoga class with my fellow Heymamas, and got quite a bit of work done.
I have a video shoot today with this beautiful brand, and we’re hosting some friends for brunch tomorrow. My only other plans this weekend – crochet some baby hats, finish this book, and whip up a batch a soup.
- Goop’s content is on point this week. Every word of this is on point, loved this interview with Kidada Jones, and plan to incorporate this facial massage in my evening routine every chance I get.
- I’m proud of myself for having priotizied sleep over the past month, getting a solid 7 hours most nights. But there are those nights when I work a little too late (or watch that extra episode of Jane The Virgin), and I’m lying awake in bed willing myself to sleep. I’ll be borrowing these tips from Jen in those (hopefully rare) moments, in addition to practicing this breathing technique.
- My Anya Hindmarch liquids bag is a definite splurge (but worth it – I’ve had mine for years). This one from TRUFFLE is a great alternative – similar design, great quality, and meets the all-important TSA requirements. Pick up this one for your non-liquid toiletries, and you’re set for any trip.
- I’ve never been so influenced by a Top Shelf feature before. But Naomi Watts’ got me to visit ONDA Beauty yesterday, where I picked up these makeup removing pads, this solid body lotion (2 actually, with some trips lined up in April and May), and this rose quartz roller. My skin and soul are happy. My wallet is not.
- Motherhood was a rough adjustment for me, and colic was a big part of it. From when he was 3 weeks to 3 months old, Rho would scream from 5-8 p.m unless I was holding him (actually holding, not in a carrier) and walked him around. After a week of pacing our apartment, I began taking him to our building’s gym to walk it out. It’s a body-after-baby plan I wish on no one. Reading Stephanie’s experience with colic brought back so many of those memories, but also made me so grateful for the sweet, funny, and mischievous boy I call my own.
- As much as I love plants, I can’t keep them alive. I just picked up this faux fiddle leaf fig tree for our family room, and ended up adding these monstera leaves and blossom stems, and a couple driftwood branches to round out the vignettes in our built-ins.
In case you missed them…
- I’ll be whipping these up for dinner tonight
- ABL – always be learning, with tips from this novelist and brand strategist.
- File this outfit for next winter. Or now, if you live in the Northeast.
- This book changed my life.
Have a wonderful weekend!
