I stalk the Internet daily for a handful of things.
It’s among the things I do when the rest of my household is asleep, along with watching reality television while triaging my inbox, doing a face mask while reading my latest book(s), and doing an infrared sauna session while watching The Good Fight (if you’re not watching, you’re missing out).
I prepare a cup of tea (or a glass of wine), snuggle underneath a blanket, and open up my browser. And I start hunting for treasures.
Graphic t-shirts. Pre-owned Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis bags. Fornasetti pieces. Nicholas Kirkwood mid-heel pumps.
A lot of this stalking happens on The Outnet, where I search for the latest in Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, and for new 2-in-1 pieces from Derek Lam 10 Crosby.
This dress was such a find, and one of my favorite ones ever.
It’s a perfect spring dress. It’s warm without being stifling, just the right balance of casual and dressy, and can be styled a billion different ways.
It was my hero item in San Francisco. I wore the dress as is for Amy Tangerine’s book launch and the Heymama event one night, and wore the slip underneath the belted trench as a shirt dress for dinner with family. When it came time to fly home, I wore the sweatshirt with jeans, Chucks, and my trench – and subsequently slept through the entire flight.
The dress is the very definition of a power piece, and one I’ll be wearing and packing for my upcoming trips. While mine is sold out, this one and this one are similar and perfect for spring.
I have a feeling I’ll be repeating this entire look often – the trench, the heels, the bag, and the lipstick.
It’ll give me one less decision to make that day, which gives me more energy for my Internet treasure hunt. Now if I could only find a Pochette Metis for the price I want…
