The fiancé complains that I never blog about him.
Well, not really complained, but brought it up over the weekend. Â Several times. Â And then he followed it up with a “I’m starving!”
That’s my man.
In any case, for you all who love these lovey-dovey stories, here’s the story of the proposal I wrote for the wedding website. Â Complete with an “I’m starving!” exclamation. Â Enjoy!
Sri and Hitha planned to spend the evening in Philadelphia to attend a friend’s birthday party. In true Sri-and-Hitha fashion, they were running late and one of them was starving.
Sri took his time changing out of his suit while Hitha complained of hunger. They trudged through the Philadelphia slush to the restaurant, when Sri noticed Rittenhouse Square across the street and insisted they take a walk. Starving Hitha was not amused, but went anyway.
As she complained of hunger, Sri tossed her a Taco Bell sauce packet and said “this should tide you over.” Hitha prepared to give Sri an “are you kidding me?” look when she noticed the packet’s message said “Will you marry me?” In shock, she looked at Sri, who was kneeling next to her, iPhone in hand. She read the same message, written on her Facebook wall on Sri’s iPhone and exclaimed “YES!” before he asked the question himself. He revealed the ring box, with an empty sauce packet emblazoned with “Will You Marry Me?”, fashioned into a ring with string sitting on it. Hitha attempted to put it on her ring finger but sadly broke the string. Saddened, she then looked at the ring box and saw the beautiful diamond engagement ring, which Sri promptly slipped on her finger.
After hugging and attempting to take a picture (a missing camera battery prevented the immediate post-proposal photo), Hitha looked at Sri, and with a smile said “I’m still starving. Can we eat now?” They celebrated the proposal with champagne, French cuisine, and desserts at Parc, and continued the celebration at a friend’s birthday party.
