An Engaging Afternoon

While Sri and I got engaged back in February, it became “official” on May 16th at our engagement party.

Party really doesn’t do the event justice.  This event took months of planning, caused plenty of blowups between my poor mother and I, and resulted in more random crying bouts than I am willing to admit.

But it was all worth it.  Every moment was absolutely perfect.  We laughed, danced, ate, posed for pictures, and celebrated our upcoming wedding with hundreds of people we love and love us back.

Sri’s friend (and first college roommate) Justin was a doll and captured the afternoon with his countless pictures.  Below are some of my favorites, and expect more to come when the fabulous Tony Lopes sends me his photos from the big day.

We prayed. And I couldn't keep a straight face.
We took pictures after the puja. A lot of them.
After changing into outfits #3, we made our way into the "reception." In true Hitha form, I was still bossing people around (sorry Dad!)
Our parents kicked things off and welcomed everyone to the party...
...while Sri and I sat pretty at our "sweetheart table" (not my idea, but worked out in the end)
There was a lot of food, of course.
Sri's brother made quite the speech. I promise to never make Sri take pictures of me, unlike Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere fame.
We danced...
Got lifted upon shoulders (while I screamed "Don't drop me!")
Sri apparently got camera happy with his buds
And our other guests enjoyed taking pictures at our photo booth.

I was probably hiding out, scarfing down another piece of cake :).

Thank you again, Justin, for all the great pictures!
