While I’m out on maternity leave, I’ve tapped some of my favorite writers to share a little bit about themselves and their all-time favorite links. Sit back, relax, and enjoy these links. And if you’re curious as to what I’m up to, follow me on Instagram!
In her words – Rita Mehta, is the voice behind The American Edit. TAE is focused on celebrating the best of American made style and the makers and brands who produce thoughtful and responsible products in the U.S.
In my words – ‘Curated’ is such an overused word in the blog world, but it aptly describes both Rita and her fantastic website, The American Edit. In my humble opinion, she has a fantastic eye for items that are beautiful and locally made in a variety of fields (fashion, decor, etc). Rita is also an expert traveler (look for her En Route With soon!) who introduced me to my favorite sushi restaurant in Sydney. Basically, she rocks.
Now, onto Rita’s favorite links:
- Create More Than You Consume . This is always the goal. I can very easily fall into the trap of reading all of the things, but this is a good reminder to be mindful and actually take something away from the things I choose to give my attention to.
- For some reason… I always think back to this section where James Franco and B.J Novak talk about how Mindy Kaling makes things happen. So inspiring! “She’s a gangster,†Novak says. “And guys respond to that. This is not a girl who waits by the phone. This is a girl who picks up the phone and calls whoever she wants.â€
- A really good, really quick reminder to be fearless..
- “What do you love most about your job? Love is about loving a man. As for my job, I like that I can put my legs over the bed, rise, dress and arrive here. I still have tremendous motivation without being driven.” – I mean… she is the coolest!
- I struggle with the current minimalism “trend” because I think it promotes the pursuit of the perfect item instead of helping us to remember to be ok with what we have (and don’t have). And, I like stuff! Not a lot of it, and only stuff that means something to me, but still, stuff. This article really elaborates on the meaning that is inherent in the things we bring into our lives. I think that if we all really thought about what we needed and what would bring us joy in our daily lives, we’d all be happier, and also likely have less stuff.
- I had a hard time picking just one link by or about Rita – so I picked two. She shares her masterful productivity tips here, and get inspired by her American-made home.
