Carry On

Two years ago, I never was one to think about my suitcase.  A Vera Bradley duffel sufficed for weekend trips, and my large silver Swiss Army suitcase was my reliable companion for long trips.  However, after spending the past year living in hotel rooms and out of said suitcase, I gave serious thought to my traveling companion.  The search for a recognizable, lightweight, durable suitcase that holds my wardrobe needs for up to 2 weeks satiated my inner shopaholic with a new quest, and all these cases meet my criteria and are worthy of investing in:

Diane Von Furstenberg R2 Snake Wheeled Duffel ($96)I received my DVF rolling duffel as a birthday gift last year, and it has been my go-to for my carry-on only trips.  I’ve mentioned this bag before, and am repeating myself because it really is fantastic.  The bag’s handles make stowing the bag in the overhead compartment a breeze, and its handle and wheels allow me to run to catch my connecting flight.  In a word, LOVE.

Dash 21″ Rolling Hardside ($120) – Curious about how good those shiny suitcases that sit on display at Brookstone are?  I was, until I noticed a friend (who travels as much as I do) lug hers on a recent trip to Chicago.  The fact that the little suitcase held all her fabulous clothes, shoes, and accessories for the entire weekend was enough of a testimonial for me to mentally note to purchase this luggage piece when one of mine bites the dust.

Samsonite xSpace 21″ Carryon Spinner ($180) – I bought this suitcase for my fiancé as a Valentine’s Day gift; when it arrived, my father marveled over the 360-degree spin, light weight, and overall appeal.  I promptly bought him one as well.  With its included FAA-approved toiletry bag and color choices, it’s a great option for any guy (or gal) on the go.  Next time Macy’s has a luggage sale, I highly recommend buying this suitcase.

Heys Xcase Exotic Crocodile Print 20″ Carryon ($120) – For when I need more room that my DVF duffel will allow, I rely on my Heys Xcase.  The roomy 20″ interior gives me ample room to pack suits, jeans & tees, workout clothes, and leaves some room for additional shopping.  I love the aesthetics of this bag – the croc print, the curved shape, and the elegant handle.  The fact that it’s absurdly light doesn’t hurt either.
