When I’m not working from home, the meetings and conferences I attend for work are conservative and male-dominated. Â By virtue of my age and gender, I already stand out from the middle-aged men milling about. Â So when it comes to dressing for these meetings and conferences, I play it up in an appropriate, tasteful manner, outlined in these dress-for-work rules:
1. Â You already stand out – so don’t shy away from colors and prints. Â Paired together, preferebly.
2. Â Keep the hair and makeup simple. Â Always.
3. Â The busier the outfit, the more simple the accessories.
My gold “daily jewelry” gets a lot of wear – my Coach watch, monogrammed necklace, and a variety of stud earrings in the sunny metal. Â Come summer, I favor icy silver and white gold over the champagne-colored metal. Â This beautiful diamond necklace was generously gifted to me by Anjolee, a fantastic company that specializes in custom diamond jewelry. Â I’ve spent far too much time on their website and iPhone apps looking at jewelry (namely a diamond bracelet – a birthday gift, maybe?). Â Their pieces are of impeccable quality and design, and many fall under my ideal “work jewelry” category – simple, elegant, and timeless. Â In addition to looking for myself, I have my eye on a diamond pendant (or three) to give to my mother as a birthday gift.
