Let’s face it – gingerbread men are as classic to the holidays as they come. Â In the past, I’ve always relied on the ready-made variety, but decided to tackle the homemade variety this year. Â It’s well worth the effort – and if you have a standing mixer, the effort is little to no effort at all. Â Decorating the cookies, on the other hand, is another effort entirely.
The easiest cookie recipe can be found here (I replaced nutmeg and cloves for pumpkin pie spice and cardamom).  This icing tutorial (add some extra water for perfectly painted gingerbread) can be found here.
The final product is a true hit. Â My sweets-avoiding father inhaled two of these cookies – a testimonial in of itself.
