I like cupcakes. Â I like awards. Â And I like happiness.
So I was thrilled when my college friend and fellow blogger Lucy (her blog is awesome, go check it out immediately) bestowed THIS little gem upon me:
(Side note–is it cheesy that I feel like a real blogger now because I got an award? Â Don’t answer that)
Here are the rules of the award:
1. copy and paste the award on your blog.
2. list who gave the award to you and use a link to her/his blog (or hyperlink).
3. list 10 things that make you happy.
4. pass the award on to other bloggers and visit their blog to let them know about the award.
Here it is: 10 things that make me happier than a pig in…slop. Â Yes, slop.
- My wonder fiancé.  Because no one can put up with my grumpiness and moods with the smile and Taco Bell offers like he can.  I think he actually likes it (probably not, but he does handles me so cheerfully that I sometimes wonder…).  He really is wonderful and someone that definitely makes me happy.
- Things that are bad for me but SO GOOD. Â Like Taco Bell. Â Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Gummy Bears. Â And the Real Housewives (really, any reality show that Bravo airs). Â Late 90’s boy-band pop music (Backstreet’s back, alright!). Â These things make me happy when I’m feeling low.
- Stamps in my passport. Â I get a thrill whenever another section of another page of my passport is occupied by an off-center stamp. Â My passports are my modern-day travel logs (though that’s what my goal is for this blog). Â I love leafing through my old and current passports, marveling at all the places I’ve been lucky enough to visit and daydream about the places I still have yet to go to.
- My job.  Because as much as I complain about the late-night conference calls, the recreation of countless PowerPoint presentations, the travel, the  difficulty of managing a social life because the job is so stressful…I have never felt more fulfilled, more satisfied in a career before.  I’m very blessed to have figured out my calling at the ripe old age of 25, and I can’t wait to see what it brings over the next several decades.
- My family. Â Casual dinners with my parents, sitting in our family room and rehashing the day and old memories, carting my nephews to their baseball games/swim meets/tennis matches and cooking up messes with them, wine and frivolous –> serious conversations with my father and my bro, e-mails from my nieces, GChats with my favorite aunts and uncles, and family reunions all bring the biggest smile to my face. Â I couldn’t ask for a louder, crazier, happiness-inducing family. Â And am thrilled that my future in-laws will just expand the love, happiness, and fun I get from my own.
- A great bag. Â Clothes will sometimes not fit, shoes will hurt your feet, but a bag won’t let you down. Â This one hasn’t yet.
- My Cuisinart Immersion Blender. Â Made my mother’s legendary bean dip with it last night. Â It came out amazing (I’ll post the recipe soon). Â I’m convinced that this is the only kitchen tool a person really needs.
- My car. Â Bye bye Berthie. Â You’ve brought much happiness to my life over the last 11 years. Â You will be missed. Â I hope Betty is half the car you are.
- Jewelry. Â Designing it. Â Wearing it. Â Looking at it. Â Those sparkly suckers bring a smile to my face no matter what’s going on.
- Last but not least, friends. Â Friends who you haven’t talked to in ages but can pick up where you left off. Â Friends you chat with daily on GChat and still get a thrill when you’re about to see them in-person after a long time. Â Friends you’ve met on Twitter and then in real-life (and they’re cooler than you originally imagined). Â Friends you find in the unlikliest of circumstances. Â To my great friends, thank you. Â Just because I’m pseudo-MIA doesn’t mean I don’t miss you and am grateful for you.
And now, time to bestow this lovely award on other people:
- 24 is the new 25. Â I want to be real-life friends with this girl.
- Sunlovey Forever. Â A Twitter-turned-real-life friend. Â And posts the most amazing outfits and recipes. Â And gives me great music :)
- See Mel Go. Â My BFF. Â Enough said.
- An Indian’s Makeup Blog. Â Because without her, I would still be wearing powder that was two shades too light.
- Apron Anxiety.  Because I want to be friends with this girl, too.  And eat the food she makes for her Chef-tastic fiancé.
Forget the award and all those shenanigans. Â What makes you folks happy? Â I want to know.
Really, I do.
It gives me a chance to not do work/schoolwork/wedding stuff. Â And I like getting a break from those things.
