Packing for a business trip is an all-too familiar routine for me. Â I’ve turned it into a bit of a game, timing myself at how quickly I can pack everything.
Current record – 9 minutes. Â Destination – Philadelphia & Amherst, via train.
I’m aware that this is a far-from-normal activity for most people.  Most people, however, have to pack for a business trip at some point in their lives.  A few months ago, I contributed a men’s business trip packing guide on Style Girlfriend.  I’ve been meaning to publish a similar post for women for some time, and have finally gotten around to it.  Thanks to the readers who requested it (and if there are other posts you’d like to see, please let me know!)  It also kicks off a new series on the blog - Jetset Style Guides.
Most of these items can be found in your own closet – however, if you’re looking to invest in some new pieces, I highly recommend these below.  Some are on the more expensive side, but they will last you for years.
Equipment blouse – Joie blouse – Black Halo dress – BB Dakota blazer
Theory pants – Express skirt – Prada tote
J.Crew flats – Sigerson Morrison heels – Clare Vivier clutch
A few tips on business trip packing:
Dress for your industry.  I work in pharmaceuticals, which is a older, male-dominated industry.  I still favor dresses over business suits, but I ensure that my hemlines are low, necklines are high, and accessories are minimal (these BaubleBar selections are appropriate for any setting).  I do, however, wear plenty of color.
Use all available space when packing. Â I like to pack my jewelry inside my clutch, toss my makeup bag into my tote, and stuff small items inside my shoes. Â For liquids I only need a small amount of, I squeeze a dollop into the cup of a contact lens case. Â It’s the perfect way to pack heat-protecting serum for hair, face & eye primer, eye cream, and face oils.
DO NOT FORGET -Â business cards, chargers, a notebook & pen, stationary, Band-Aids, and Advil. Â I keep these pre-packed in my suitcase at all times.
Always carry-on. Â Especially if you’re traveling with men – they never check in bags. Â And who wants to risk their bag being lost?
I’d love to know – what are your must-pack items for business trips? Â
