I nearly broke my Kindle while reading My Lady Jane.
I dropped it multiple times because I was laughing so hard. The right ‘turn page’ sensor stopped working briefly because of my aggressive reading.
I may have also woken up my husband from my laughter. He was not amused.
My Lady Jane has all the things I love in a brain candy novel – history, royals, magic – with a dash of absurdity and a lot of humor.
It’s an alternate, fantastical history of Lady Jane Grey, a distant cousin of Henry VIII’s children who was the queen of England for nine days.
That part’s all true. The rest…well, that’s where the magic comes in.
I know the premise sounds a bit absurd. But the three (!) authors created an addictive, heartwarming book that just made me happy while I read it.
And sad when I finished it.
I hope you love it as much as I did.
P.S – another magical book with a badass woman, and a memoir to read if you’ve finished watching The Crown and Victoria.
