Kicking off this month’s favorite things are three items that have made motherhood a lot easier, and I wish I had started using them before Rho’s arrival. The Nespresso machine – also known as the item I love most, after my son. I could not survive without my daily lattes. Not at all. Laundry is a near-daily activity here, and Honest’s laundry pods are convenient and work like a dream. Plus, the whole ‘safer for you and the world’ thing. That’s always nice. And when I’m not chugging caffeine or washing clothes (or feeding/changing Rho), I’m usually snapping his picture. The best ones get printed on my Instax printer and placed on a photo board. It’s amazing to see how much he’s grown in 6 weeks (and slightly terrifying – time, please slow down!
My mommy essentials aside, let’s get into the good stuff. I managed to pick my Kindle back up and devoured these books. There was the brain candy (The Royal We, a fictionalized William and Kate story that was a delight to read), the YA science fiction (A Thousand Pieces of You – parallel dimensions, an alternate reality where the Romanov family was never killed and still ruled Russia, and the requisite love triangle in every young adult book), and the poignant (After Birth, a raw and powerful story of a mother navigating through the first couple of years of her child’s life). I also finished up the first 8 episodes of Outlander – a rare instance where I loved the televised version more than the book. So. Good. I’ve been living in Topshop Leigh skinny jeans and Old Navy linen-blend t-shirts this month – an outfit so comfortable, it very nearly feels like you’re wearing pajamas. Topped with a blazer, some flats, and my Meli Melo bag (call me Mary Poppins, because I can fit EVERYTHING in here), and you have my spring uniform. I never wore blush or illuminator, but this multipurpose stick from Wander Beauty changed all that – a dab on my cheeks (and blended in with a BeautyBlender) and a touch of the blush on my lips, and I’m good to go.
