I struggled with putting together my favorite things this month – mostly because I have little to no recollection of what exactly happened this month.
So this really should be a second-half-of-August Hit List, seeing as these are my favorite things from just the past few weeks. Â (The first half of the month was pretty boring – all I did was travel between 3 United hubs and work-work-work).
And as busy as this month was, it was a LOT of fun.
My Dagne Dover tote made my business travel a breeze this month – think the same organization as a Lo & Sons bag, but with a streamlined look that’s suitable for busy meetings.  Though we have less than a year left in this apartment, it hasn’t stopped me from adding new fixtures – this chandelier being one of my favorites.  Our bedroom nook went from being a place strictly for sleep to my new favorite room.  I’ve been wearing this BaubleBar necklace and my Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans nonstop (a STEAL version here), and can’t wait to add these new heeled sandals to the mix.  I’ve also upped my beauty game with wearing lip color on the regular, thanks to the luxurious feel of Jane Iredale’s PureMoist lipsticks.  Lily is my favorite – a nude with just a hint of pink.  Giving a break to my cheesy Spotify playlists and the Film Scores station on Pandora, I’ve been using focus@will to not only listen to instrumental music, but to track my productivity.  A MUST download, in my book.  My pal Felicia has raved about Blue Apron in the past, and it was the perfect delivery after two weeks of travel.  It allowed me to make healthful meals at home without the agony of grocery shopping? More to come on this soon.  Being the geeks we are, my husband and I rented Europa Report TWICE this month – it’s a movie that combines my geekery love (space) with a deathly fear (water).  I first discovered the Percy Jackson series through my nephew (who came for a visit this month as well!), and actually read the first book a year ago.  On his earnest recommendation, I picked up the second book on Saturday, and plowed through the remainder of the series through Sunday night.  I’m now on book 3 of Heroes of Olympus series, and forcing myself to wait until I’m poolside in Miami before picking the books back up.  While the series is intended for a young adult audience, it’s written with the same excellence as the Harry Potter series while maintaining strong accuracy to the myths of ancient Greece and Rome.  If you’re looking for a great story to get yourself lost in, get these books.
