It’s been a really good month.
It’s also been a blur. So much so that I can barely remember my own name, let alone my favorites from this month. Not that it’s an excuse, but…maybe?
In any case, this month’s Hit List picks kept me organized, warm, comfortable, and sane. And yes, happy.
Topping the list is Flow. We had been looking for a project management tool for Bridge2Act, and this one met (and exceeded) all our requirements – easy to use, great mobile experience, chat and task management functions. Having tried them all (Trello, Slack, Asana), I love Flow the best. Though Flow was the best digital addition I made to my work life this month, this air plant from Pottery Barn brings some much-needed greenery and happiness to my desk. Best part? I’ve had it for nearly a month and have yet to water it. Score.
While I work/get ready/clean, I’ve been binge listening to the Atomic Moms podcast. Funny, informative, and nonjudgemental – I wish all motherhood-related things were like this. While I’ve picked up a number of books, the only one to capture my interest this month was Magnus Chase – the latest from one of my favorite young adult authors, Rick Riordan. Having tackled ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology, Magnus Chase focuses on the Norse legends. Bring an unabashed fan of Thor and Scandinavia alike, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. It did not disappoint.
In the style-comfort balance of my wardrobe, this month’s favorites are comfort-heavy. It started with these shearling-lined Birkenstocks – while inexplicably warm and comfortable, they’re not exactly the prettiest show. Next came a double-breasted sweater jacket from Madwell that looked like it should have come from my father’s closet. Rounding out the Seattle grandmother look were new eyeglases from Felix + Iris, the only online glasses company that could handle my horrifying prescription (talking -13 – as in, NEGATIVE thirteen). The styles I chose? The Scholar and the Wildwood. I may not be winning any style awards, but I’m definitely comfortable. And warm. And can see sans contacts.
It’s only natural that my grandma style be accompanied by a grandma hobby. I”m deep into a knitting binge, thanks to Loopy Mango. I’ve finished a healthy portion of my holiday gifts and continue knitting up a storm, averaging a giant blanket a week. I’m either going to need to start selling blankets to afford more yarn, or pick up a cheaper hobby. Eek. And as much as I wish I were immune, I’m just as addicted to pumpkins as the next person. Specifically, this flax pumpkin granola. Paired with Greek yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup and you have my favorite breakfast. With a giant cup of coffee, of course.
While I always love my Eagles, it was easier to LIKE them this month with a few wins. Keep that up, boys.
