AUGUST. The hell?
And moreover, my little monkey is 5 months old. Time, please slow the f*$k down.
I’m laying low this week after a busier-than-usual one last week (two dinners with friends, a debate watching party, too much wine and not enough sleep). Besides a date night with my husband to Tamarind, I’m spending my evenings curled up with my latest read, herbal tea, and cuddles with my not-so-little guy. Whose new favorite thing is to suck on his hands and then punch my chest and stomach. Boys.
Oh well. On to the links!
- Anyone else still have politics on their mind after the debate? This older feature of Obama is fascinating to read now (given that it was published right before his re-election). Also, how Ivanka balances her own initiatives and life while being a supportive daughter.
- My weekend plans include lots of family walks, a Sunday Cyc class, and making this for dinner.
- (Lots of) hard work, bravery, and a little “yes we can!” – aka Mindy Kaling’s secrets to killer confidence. You better believe I pre-ordered her next book.
- How to raise a Nobel Prize winner.
- One of the many reasons I admire Mika Brezinski is her openness about her career setbacks – most notably, getting fired from CBS and her ill-fated attempts at negotiating a raise (chronicled in Knowing Your Value, which I thought was far superior than Lean In or #GIRLBOSS). If you’re unfamiliar with the Morning Joe host, check out this T&C profile on Mika.
- My most ‘where did you get that?’ commented items surprisingly come from Nasty Gal, and happen to be back in stock. I own this drapey trench in four colors, wore this cape dress on my birthday, and pair this cropped blouse with high waisted flared jeans and skirts all the time. Also, this gym bag. Kind of perfect, no?
Have a wonderful week!
