May somehow became the month of conferences, and I found myself dipping into the professional section of my closet more in the month than I had in the past year.
Pregnancy + startup life will do that to you.
Each had its own dress code. The Media for Social Impact Summit was a decidedly formal affair, calling for one of my many MM LaFleur dresses. The Wired Business Conference, however, was more casual.
What’s more (business) casual than a tailored pair of pants and a white button down? The windowpane print of the pants and a short-sleeved top adds a stylish twist on the classic pairing. Add some delicate jewelry, and you’re set.
The bag and shoes were a recent splurge, but one made from consignment sales of designer items I was no longer wearing. The sale of my old things and purchase of new ones all happened on The RealReal, who made the process so seamless and helped me track down the specific items I wanted.  Unlike the bags I sold, the Cèline tote is comparatively featherweight and manages to fit everything – laptop, notebook, even a set of workout clothes. The Tribute Too mid-heel pumps are the ONLY designer shoes that I’ve been able to wear for hours on end without foot pain.
Let’s face it – if you’re going to invest in shoes and bags, you better make damn sure you’ll use them nearly every day.
And no, The RealReal did not sponsor this post. I just love them that much and wanted to share the sartorial wealth.
